We partner with the people we serve to identify their strengths, interests, abilities, needs and personal goals. Together, we develop services and supports that reflect their choices, build on their potential and help them pursue the opportunities that are meaningful to them.

Our person-centered approach means we:

• Listen first. We take time to understand each person’s experiences, preferences and priorities.

• Support informed choices. We explain available services and options in ways people can understand and encourage active participation in decisions.

• Build on strengths. We recognize each person’s talents and abilities while working together to address barriers.

• Respect individuality. We honor each person’s background, culture, beliefs and communication and accessibility needs.

• Protect dignity, rights and privacy. We support self-advocacy and each person’s right to express concerns and provide feedback.

• Work together. With the individual’s permission, we involve family members, trusted supporters and community partners when helpful.

• Adapt as goals change. We seek feedback and review progress with each person to keep services responsive to their needs and aspirations.

 

Each person’s definition of success is their own. Our role is to provide the guidance, learning opportunities and support that help them move toward it.

Have a Concern? We Want to Hear It.

If you are receiving services from Goodwill, or you are a family member or advocate of someone who is, you have the right to share a concern, make a complaint, or appeal a decision. You will not lose services or be treated differently for speaking up.

How to raise a concern

1. Talk with us. You can start with your supervisor, Program Manager, or Training Support Specialist. If you’d rather not, you can go straight to Human Resources, the Executive Support and Compliance Manager, or another member of leadership. Many concerns can be resolved quickly this way.

2. Put it in writing. If the concern isn’t resolved, you can submit it in writing to your supervisor, Program Manager, or Human Resources. Include what happened, when, who was involved, and what you would like to see happen. We will let you know we received it and will normally respond in writing within five business days.

3. Ask for a review. If you are not satisfied with the response, you can ask Human Resources or the Vice President of Human Resources & Marketing to review it. A final decision is normally made within ten business days.

 

You don’t have to do this alone. A family member, guardian, advocate, your MDRS counselor, a Client Assistance Program representative, or anyone you choose may help you at any step. If you need help writing your concern, or need information in another format, just ask.
