There are several ways to get involved with Goodwill Industries of Mississippi! See below for more information on how you can support our mission by participating in our volunteer program or groups.

Goodwill Volunteer Program

We love having individuals and groups (social, corporate, schools, etc) volunteer at Goodwill Industries of Mississippi! By volunteering with us, you will not only gain valuable experience and skills but also have the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping to change lives. Whether you are looking to fulfill community service hours, gain experience in a nonprofit setting, or simply give back to your community, we have opportunities that fit your interests and schedule.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer with Goodwill Industries of Mississippi, please follow this link, fill out the attached forms, and return them to your nearest Goodwill location. We look forward to working with you to create a brighter future for all Mississippians.

Goodwill Industries Volunteer Services (GIVS) is almost as old as Goodwill of Mississippi. It was founded in 1958 through the initiative of Mrs. J. Ray (Kathryn) Stebbins. The Woman’s Auxiliary was developed to assist Goodwill in providing equipment and services not covered in the budget. The auxiliary was quickly recognized as Jackson’s largest civic organization. They generated community awareness of the new Goodwill agency with their motto, “Making others aware because we care.”

Over the years, GIVS has played a vital role in Goodwill’s advancement, as a constant supporter of Goodwill and its employees. The support has come in many forms — birthday and holiday celebrations, devotional ministry, fundraising, and community membership drives.

GIVS is a separate nonprofit organization that supports the Goodwill mission. This all-volunteer organization is composed of community leaders and other individuals who have a heart for service.

New faces are always welcome at GIVS. If you are interested in becoming a member of GIVS, click here to contact Margo Burnside at margob@bellsouth.net via email.

Goodwill Ambassador Program

The Goodwill Ambassador Program is a low-pressure, excellent introduction to Goodwill of Mississippi and serves as a conduit to bring influencers and advocates together to support the mission of Goodwill.

Whether you are seeking to “just give back” to your local community, develop advocacy skills, receive community service hours, or meet like-minded business, government and social service leaders in our community, the Ambassador program might just be for you!

If you are interested in learning more about the Goodwill Ambassador Program, please contact Roy Johns at  rjohns@goodwillms.org via email.
