Goodwill of Mississippi is proud to announce the promotion of Steve McCartney to Associate Vice President of Workforce Development, a role that reflects his strong leadership, deep commitment to Goodwill’s mission, and growing impact across Central Mississippi.
Since joining Goodwill of Mississippi in December 2024 as the organization’s first-ever Director of Learning and Development, Steve has played a key role in strengthening employee education, training, and professional development. From the start, he brought a thoughtful, collaborative approach to building programs that empower people and create meaningful pathways to success.
A lifelong Mississippian, Steve brings more than 26 years of experience in education, including 11 years in administrative leadership. Throughout his career, he has remained focused on one core belief: when people are given the right tools, training, and support, they can build sustainable careers and stronger futures.
In his new role, Steve will lead the strategic direction, oversight, and expansion of Goodwill of Mississippi’s Workforce Development division. This includes guiding skills-based training programs, strengthening employer partnerships, expanding career coaching and navigation services, and ensuring that individuals throughout Central Mississippi have access to opportunities that lead to long-term success.
“This new role is a natural step in my journey at Goodwill,” Steve shared. “I look forward to strengthening our partnerships and expanding opportunities for Mississippians to gain the skills and experience they need to build strong, sustainable careers.”
As Associate Vice President of Workforce Development, Steve’s leadership will further enhance Goodwill’s ability to serve individuals who face barriers to employment—helping connect them with training, resources, and meaningful work that changes lives.
Goodwill of Mississippi is grateful for Steve’s continued dedication and excited about the expanded impact his leadership will bring to the communities we serve.
