This summer, Goodwill of Mississippi engaged with community leaders, educators, employers, and job seekers across the state through a series of impactful conferences and expos. Each event offered a unique platform to advance our mission—transforming lives through lifelong learning and meaningful work—while building new relationships and expanding awareness of our services throughout Central Mississippi.
Advancing Our Mission with the Mississippi Alliance of Nonprofits
At the Mississippi Alliance of Nonprofits and Philanthropy conference, we joined fellow nonprofit professionals in meaningful conversations about sustainability, collaboration, and impact. Goodwill of Mississippi had the opportunity to promote our mission and share how our work supports individuals and communities alike through education, employment, and empowerment.
Elevating Workforce Development at the MMA Conference
The Mississippi Manufacturers Association (MMA) Conference provided an ideal setting to focus on workforce development. Our team connected with industry leaders to discuss how Goodwill prepares job seekers for long-term employment, addressing the critical need for skilled, motivated workers across Mississippi. It was a valuable opportunity to reinforce the importance of our training programs and career services.
Promoting Career Centers at the Community Health Expo & Governor’s Job Fair
Goodwill’s Career Centers were well represented at both the Community Health Expo and the Governor’s Job Fair, hosted by MDES. We engaged directly with attendees, offering information about resume assistance, job training, and employment placement—all free of charge. These events allowed us to support hundreds of Mississippians actively looking to improve their futures.
Championing Early Literacy at the Mississippi Early Childhood Education Conference
In Biloxi, we participated in the Mississippi Early Childhood Education Conference, where we introduced early childhood educators to BookWorks, our early literacy program. BookWorks helps children build home libraries and develop a lifelong love of reading. We’re grateful to the Mississippi Head Start Association for inviting us and providing the chance to connect with so many dedicated professionals working to shape young minds.
Looking Ahead
These summer events were more than just networking opportunities—they were a chance to educate, inspire, and connect with others who share our commitment to making a difference. We’re proud of the progress made and energized by the partnerships we’re building along the way.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to grow our programs and reach even more people throughout Central Mississippi.
