Goodwill Industries of Mississippi is proud to announce the promotion of Steve McCartney to Vice President of Workforce Development.

Steve joined Goodwill just over a year ago as our first-ever Director of Learning & Development, a role created to strengthen internal training, leadership development, and professional growth across the organization. In a short time, he has made a measurable impact—building structured learning pathways, enhancing employee development initiatives, and helping align training efforts with Goodwill’s mission of transforming lives through lifelong learning and meaningful work.

His promotion reflects both the strength of his leadership and Goodwill’s continued commitment to expanding workforce development efforts across Central Mississippi.

A Strong Foundation in Education and Leadership

Steve brings more than 25 years of experience in education and leadership, along with a Master’s degree in Education. Throughout his career, he has focused on building strong teams, developing innovative learning strategies, and helping individuals reach their full potential.

At Goodwill, that experience has translated into stronger internal systems, clearer development pathways for staff, and a renewed focus on equipping individuals with the skills needed to thrive in today’s workforce.

Leading Workforce Development into Its Next Chapter

As Vice President of Workforce Development, Steve will oversee workforce programs, employer partnerships, and strategic initiatives that connect individuals to meaningful employment opportunities. He will lead a growing team dedicated to strengthening training programs, expanding community partnerships, and increasing job placement outcomes.

With workforce services continuing to grow, his leadership will be instrumental in scaling programs, deepening employer relationships, and enhancing the impact of Goodwill’s mission across the region.

“Steve has demonstrated a clear vision for workforce advancement and a deep commitment to our mission,” said Brad Steffani, President & CEO of Goodwill Industries of Mississippi. “We are excited to see him step into this leadership role and help guide the future of workforce development in our community.”

Continuing to Transform Lives

Goodwill of Mississippi remains focused on helping individuals gain the skills, confidence, and support needed to achieve meaningful work. Steve’s promotion marks an important step forward as we continue expanding services and investing in the people and communities we serve.

We are excited about what lies ahead and confident that under Steve’s leadership, our workforce programs will continue to grow in reach and impact.
