Community Rallies Behind Record-Breaking School Tools Donation Drive

The power of community was on full display as Goodwill Industries of Mississippi partnered with WAPT for this year's School Tools Donation Drive, collecting more than 5,000 school supplies to benefit the Hinds County Human Resource Agency (HCHRA) Head Start Centers.

Held at four Walmart locations in Flowood, Richland, Madison, and Ridgeland, the annual drive welcomed hundreds of generous shoppers who stopped to purchase backpacks, notebooks, crayons, pencils, folders, and other essential classroom supplies. Thanks to the incredible support of the community, this year's drive surpassed every previous year, making it the most successful School Tools campaign to date.

"This event is a wonderful reminder of what can happen when a community comes together for a common purpose," said Brad Steffani, President and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Mississippi. "Every donated school supply represents encouragement for a child and support for families preparing for a new school year. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who made this year's drive such a tremendous success."

The event would not have been possible without the dedication of Goodwill employees, Ambassadors, volunteers, and the WAPT team, who spent the day engaging shoppers and collecting donations. Their enthusiasm helped inspire thousands of contributions that will directly impact local Head Start students as they begin the upcoming school year.
